From London to lockdown
Momentum Pharma is a clinical research organisation, managing clinical trials across the globe for everything from cancer to the flu and COVID. Their goal is to get approval of new treatments to patients with conditions who need it most. Founded in 2013, Melissa and Jon Melton originally formed the business in central London. Tired of not feeling they belonged to a community and having the ambition to shift their work-life balance and explore a more rural area, they moved their business HQ to Hereford.
The Melton’s made the big move in the height of the first COVID lockdown. Once restrictions were lifted, they moved into their new office and were greeted with an overwhelming level of support from local Hereford businesses to get set up. With no employees prior to their move, they were happy to find our local workforce was full of individuals with a high skills set, who believed in the company’s ethos and could accelerate the quality of service the business could provide.
Our locally sourced Hereford workforce, their values, and the way they live their life reflects the value of this company and that has greatly contributed to our reputation and the calibre of service that we can provide around the world.

The future in Hereford
Alongside some of the benefits such as cheaper rent and rates compared with neighbouring areas, and Wi-Fi that’s faster than Central London, Jon Melton sees a bright future for Momentum Pharma in Hereford. The business is looking to grow the business further with council support, whilst using the resources available to them to onboard apprentices in the near future through our partnerships with local colleges and universities.
Jon commented, “I think the service industry is going to grow with this support. The ability to bring in people who may not have considered employment in a service industry has really opened things up here in Hereford.”
